Hello. This is literally an age old question & basically it all goes back to this: no one knows what goes on in a cats head. I am not just being facetious, but even my cats drive me crazy sometimes. Food, toys, beds, cat condos all go through love/hate phases all the time. I think it is so wonderful that you adopted him, & as long as he loves being with you, the warming bed may just be too foreign to him. There may also be a very low quality hum or vibration that goes along with the heating elements that just puts him off. If he loves his condo & his blankets, that may be all he needs, plus food & love. Again, thanks for taking him in & thanks for using Boop by Petco.

If there is a radiator or heat vent below the kitchen window, then I would place it there. To the right of the sink would be great, too. Kitties like the heat. My second choice would be the bed room, however she may prefer to lie on the bed anyway and ignore the cat bed there.

I'm thinking of buying an electric heating mat for my cats. Are they safe to use? Could it burn my cat even on a low setting?
Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! Generally the electrical pads have a risk for short circuiting and can overheat with the animal on the pad leading to severe skin burns. There are newer options for keeping animals warm such as warmer crates / bedding, oscillating heat fans (dyson), and controlling the ambient room temperature. I have seen several burns related to electrical heat pads so I am not a big proponent of using these as the risk is too high for burns.

Dachshunds tend to be snugglers, and also love to be buried (like under a blanket!). I'd look into a dog bed (or even a large cat bed) that has a [clamshell or hooded design](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/harmony-hooded-cave-cat-bed-in-grey) that she can crawl into and be covered up by it. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Unfortunately no. I would keep her nails trimmed, cutting them every 2-3 weeks. You can cover your bed with a blanket to protect your good bed cover. And you can apply nail caps. Other options is to keep her off the bed with noise deterrents.
