Each of them work slightly differently but at the end of the day all three of them reduce inflammation which is probably the most important aspect of treating arthritis. there is no definitive answer to your question, each dog respond differently to pain medications, some dogs will benefit more from one over the other two. i would probably advise starting with Meloxicam first.

Hi! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Katie just ingested a very high dose of meloxicam. The big problem with an overdose of meloxicam (or any other NSAID) is that it can definitively result in side effects such as gastrointestinal ulceration (which may manifest as black, tarry stools which basically means digested blood), kidney disease, liver disease and gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting, diarrhea and anorexia. I advice that you take Katie to a veterinarian (perhaps a bit farther from you) for evaluation and further treatment. If it has been less than 2 hours, vomiting could still be induced which could make the outcome better. If there is no way possible you can do that then take her first thing in the morning tomorrow. Good luck!

You can buy those products at Petco for Beaux. I would advise to only purchase Frontline or Advantix. I would not get anything cheaper than that. Be aware that these are still your best over the counter products but fleas are developing immunity to them. In general, the oral products like Simparica and Bravecto are the best. Please post if you have any additional questions.

I find that for over the counter products, melatonin works much better than Benadryl for most dogs in my experience. The product I would recommend trying for Marco is NaturVet Quiet Moments Calm Chews with Melatonin, which can be found online or at your local PetCo quite easily. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.

Hi there. No, I would definitely NOT give your pup any of your meloxicam. While this is a medication that is sometimes used in dogs, the dose for a dog this size would be much too small to be able to use human tablets. In addition, this medication isn't safe for some older dogs if they have any pre-existing liver, kidney, or GI issues, which is something your veterinarian would likely need to determine via lab work before prescribing. Since it does sound like Ruby may have some arthritis issues, I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam when you are able to. Your veterinarian can prescribe a safe and effective pain medication for her to help make her more comfortable. In the meantime, you could try starting her on a daily glucosamine/chondroitin supplement like Cosequin or Dasuquin, as this can be helpful for some arthritic dogs and can be purchased over the counter.
