Hi there! I love Samoyeds! If you think that Natika is doing very well now you can try just the joint supplements and save the meloxicam to only be used on an as needed basis if she appears particularly painful at any given time. Those joint supplements alone can make quite the difference sometimes. Good luck with your girl!

The dose of meloxicam is not toxic for a dog this size. I am unsure how much Carprieve he received as you just state "half a tablet". There are multiple milligram strengths of carprieve. The big concern with these is when you give multiple NSAIDs together you could cause a stomach ulcer. Be on the lookout for vomiting / lethargy and if you see anything, I would get Steel in to a veterinarian as soon as possible. I hope this helps!

There are a few more medications that can be given such as tramadol and gabapentin, both are prescription only, you can get them from your normal vet. the most important factor for good recovery is cage rest for at least two weeks, in most cases neither MRI nor surgery are needed.

There are many alternatives to Deramaxx , not human ones though and they all cost more or less the same. to get a better price ask your vet for a prescription and buy it online, the price difference, it can sometimes be up to 3 times cheaper this way.

Meloxicam (eloxioral) can be given to cats as a single dose but prolonged used is not recommended. It is best to contact your vet if you have questions about the medications but personally, I would not use it in cats unless it was my only option since there are much better cat specific medications to use like Onsior.
