Hi Stella! I would be glad to answer your questions :-) Pets can be obese for a couple of reasons. One reason can be free-feeding, but it also be due to a lack of exercise, and feeding your pet lots of human food and treats. It's not recommended to feed your pet human food unless for a specific medical reason (i.e. boiled white meat chicken with no bones for GI upset) because it adds extra calories to their diet which they don't need. Also, many human foods are toxic to dogs and cats. It's not recommended to free fed dogs, they should get two meals a day. As for cats, cats tend to be grazers, some people do leave food out all day for them to eat their leisure. This is fine to do with cats who are a healthy weight, and you can switch to scheduled feeding if they are obese. It is true free feeding can lead to obesity, but you can manage this with cats by not leaving a huge amount of food out all the time. You can measure out their daily amount, and they can eat at their leisure

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Raw diets are not safe for pets as they can contain bacteria, like salmonella, which can cause serious health problems. Your cat is not a wild cat and does not need protein only diets. They also need grains and carbohydrates in their diet to be balanced and complete. Most veterinarians recommend the top 4 brands of pet food- Hill's/Science Diet, Purina, Iams, and Royal Canin. We also recommend any diet you chose to have a statement on the bag regarding its use in AAFCO feeding trials and not just formulated according to AAFCO requirements. This means it is used for complete and balanced nutrition for a specific life stage (vs. “intermittent and supplemental feeding” which should be fed only as treat items). This means that the diet has actually been fed to a group of animals and they thrived, instead of someone simply calculating a “good diet” in a computer program. I hope this helps! Kisses to Sweetie!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! There are a few things that you can consider including splitting her feedings into a few a day using the slow feeder. You can look into getting a different slow feeder. Also, you can consider basically throwing her food (kibble) in a room which is going to spread it out and Jackie will have to eat it more slowly. Hi. Why does my cat no longer want to eat from his bowl? Suddenly, my cat no longer wants to eat from his bowl, which is clean. (I even rewashed it.) He'll eat the kibble if I put it directly on the floor. He was sneezing a little several days ago
This is one of those things we may never be able to answer. I suggest you just get a different type of bowl and see if he likes that. I would recommend a low, flat, shallow bowl (kind of like a tray). Some cats develop an aversion to their whiskers touching the sides of a deeper "normal" bowl.
