As Belle is a fairly large dog incontinence after spaying is a relatively common occurrence, Most dogs become incontinent when a little older, but it can indeed happen to younger dogs as well. This is due to a lack of female hormones which used to be produced by the ovaries, Belle will likely need to take the Incurin for a longer period of time if not life-long.

Hello, and thank you for using Boop by Petco. Unfortunately, there is nothing over the counter that is going to be anywhere near as effective as Proin for urinary incontinence. However, there are some supplements out there that can help. Here's the one I've had the most success with: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetri-science-laboratories-bladder-strength-tablets-for-dogs?rrec=true Hope that helps!

Hi there! Sorry to hear Missy is having accidents. There certainly are medications to help with this. Usually older spayed female dogs are the ones who have these issues-due to estrogen dependent urinary incontinence. Your veterinarian will have to see Missy for an exam and probably blood work to make sure the medications are safe for her. Incuran and Proin are two frequently prescribed medications for these issues and it is usually by preference of the doctor which one is prescribed. Usually they work quite well, and most dogs take them easily with a small snack. I hope this helps!

Incurin should not be given to dogs who are experiencing polyuria (increased urination) and polydipsia (increased drinking, while Proin should be used with caution in dogs with kidney insufficiency. If Athena has kidney failure, I would discuss with your vet the appropriateness of her taking this drugs, as they may not be indicated due to her kidney failure.

I'm sorry to hear that Bijou has developed some leaking. Unfortunately we do see that in a number of spayed females. Proin is one of the most common medications that we will use for urinary incontinence, but there are several others that you can try as well. I am attaching a handout with more information about urinary incontinence including treatment options below. https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4952092 I would recommend asking your veterinarian about trying another medication for incontinence. Incurin or DES are the next most common medications to try after Proin. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
