As Belle is a fairly large dog incontinence after spaying is a relatively common occurrence, Most dogs become incontinent when a little older, but it can indeed happen to younger dogs as well. This is due to a lack of female hormones which used to be produced by the ovaries, Belle will likely need to take the Incurin for a longer period of time if not life-long.

Still okay to give Incurin and Proin for dog in kidney failure?
Incurin should not be given to dogs who are experiencing polyuria (increased urination) and polydipsia (increased drinking, while Proin should be used with caution in dogs with kidney insufficiency. If Athena has kidney failure, I would discuss with your vet the appropriateness of her taking this drugs, as they may not be indicated due to her kidney failure.

My 80 pound coonhound leaks. The vet said it was from the way she was spayed. She won't eat if I give her proem. She's is much worse in hot weather than cold, and when I have company. Do you have any suggestions on what else I can try?
I'm sorry to hear that Bijou has developed some leaking. Unfortunately we do see that in a number of spayed females. Proin is one of the most common medications that we will use for urinary incontinence, but there are several others that you can try as well. Hi. My vet just prescribed Propalin for Cruz because he leaks urine. I just wanted to know if this is a safe option and if it's something he will have to be on for life or if it's temporary. Are there side effects I should look out for? Thanks.
This may be a lifelong medication for Cruz depending on the underlying cause of his incontinence. It is commonly prescribed for dogs for this condition. Side effects may include decreased (or loss of) appetite, restlessness, tremors, increased heart rate, cardiac arrhythmia or high blood pressure. Most dogs tolerate the drug very well.
