Giardia can only be treated with either Metronidazole or Fenbendazole at the appropriate dose for your cats weight. I would consult your vet for the appropriate dosage for your cat since they have examined him before. Veterinary client patient relationship act says that a pet has to be examined by said vet who prescribed that pet medicaiton. I hope this helps. Best wishes and take care.

Hello, My cat was prescribed 30 x Metronidazole 50 mg/ml (compounded liquid) and also Gabapentin to use as needed. The Metronidazole is for stomach upset that has caused her to eliminate on my bed. She gets very upset by the meds - have to wrap her
Thanks for using Boop by Petco. This one is really hard and common among cat owners. A few tips: - If Gurl is food motivated, use treats or her food. example: give a treat, give the meds, give more treats or dinner. In time, she'll hopefully associate the medication with the treats/food. - Use the gabapentin to your advantage. Gabapentin has mild sedating and anti-anxiety effects (along with pain control) in cats. If you can get that down her, you may find that an hour or two later, the metronidazole goes dow easier. - Consider having the pharmacy add in some flavoring. -try mixing them into wet food, tuna juice, chicken broth, etc. get creative - try the pills - it may seem counter-intuitive but some cats you can pill easier than you can get liquids down. -Talk with your vet about other options. Depending on her underlying issue, maybe a diet change, steroid injection, or other medication or supplement can help. Best wishes to you and Gurl!

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. Unfortunately there are no alternative medications that can be given other than orally. You can try and see if having the medication compounded at a compounding pharmacy to a very small dose and with good flavoring that can be disguised well enough for Wendy to take. Otherwise, you will need to consider having her kept at a veterinary clinic as medical boarding and have the veterinary staff try and medicate her for you. I hope this helps! Yes, you could wait however I am not sure why your current vet cannot call in a prescription to a compounding pharmacy and have the medication compounded into a flavored liquid or tasty chew tab or even a tiny tab (which is MUCH easier to administer). They can make it into many different forms as you will see on the link below. I suggest you ask your vet to do this. All they need to do is call Wedgewood Pharmacy. I am sorry but we are unable to give doses or prescribe medications on pet coach. I would not recommend treating your adult cats for giardia unless they are showing clinical signs like diarrhea. Just because they are exposed does not mean they will get the parasite. hope that helps
