I think the most reliable source to answer this question would be Merial who manufactures this medication. Call 1-888-MERIAL1, option 2, option 4. This will prioritize and transfer your message to the appropriate party.

If you are sure the horse will eat all of the feed with the paste, you can add it. However it would be better to directly give the paste into the mouth as it is a very expensive medication and your horse needs the full dose appropriate for its weight. Giving the paste directly into the mouth, then holding the mouth shut for a few seconds will ensure the paste is swallowed. If you are not sure how it is done, ask some of the barn mates to help you dose your horse.

Hi there. First it’s important to make sure that your saddle fits properly-you aren’t pinching when you tighten your girth or tightening too quickly-both of which can cause discomfort in your mare. It really is best to have her scoped by a vet to check for ulcers, as well as an oral exam to make sure there is no pain in the mouth-sometimes they just associate pain with riding and it doesn’t matter the source of the pain (saddle, bit, etc) they just know it hurts them. Gastrogard is usually what I try first for ulcers. It is commercially available in many stores as well as online. If you suspect ulcers, you may also want to reevaluate how much grain you are feeding. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask. Hope this helps.

You can but you would need twice the amount than if you used the cattle/horse formulation. The swine Excede is 100mg/ml and the cattle/horse Excede is 200mg/ml . So, a 1,000 pound horse would need 15mls of the cattle/horse Excede but would need 30mls of the swine Excede.

Hello. If working your horse will not irritate or make the ulcers bleed, then light work would be appropriate. If your horse shows any pain or discomfort, & is reluctant to move comfortably, then stop & just allow the lesions to heal completely before continuing to use him. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
