Feline Pine

Hello, what types of pine are safe for rabbits to chew? I live in Mississippi & the MFC lists Loblolly, Longleaf, & Slash pines growing here. Can I simply get a pine branch from my yard & give it to my rabbit, or do I need to heat treat it somehow? Some online sources say pine is okay for rabbits while others list Ponderosa pines as being toxic to rabbits. And would the pine needles be okay to use as rabbit bedding? Thank you for your help.

My 19 yr old cat with diagnosed kidney disease has started eating his clumping clay litter. Is pine clumping litter safe or would nonclumping pine be safer?

If pine needles do not cause serious side effects such as death if they are eatten, why do some sites say that pine causes liver damage and can cause death? Is it because cats need to eat more than one pine needle for the toxic sap to affect them that way? Sorry just worried because i have no idea how she found the pine needle in the first place as shes an in door cat and i always sweep after coming inside.

Can Guinea pigs use grreat choice pine wood shavings? I see carefresh made a mixture of paper and wood shavings. I'm low on funds this week and I had bought and aired out (for 4 days) grreat choice pine wood for my hamsters. But as I said I'm low on funds and was wondering if just this week I could use the pine wood? I don't want to harm my piggies in anyway.

I just discovered that pine caterpillars are a danger to animals. We don’t go near pine trees often but last saturday we went to the park and last tuesday (2 days ago) my dad walked my dog close to pine trees. He’s acting normally, would sympstons have shown up by now in case he was affected? What are the signs?

My cat over grooms, has for a long time and had bald belly for some time, but now the bald area is expanding to her back legs and I'm seeing thin spots on her forelegs too. She eats a limited ingredient diet and i was using feline pine pellet litter for a while. We've been in the same apartment for almost 2 years and she's the only cat. What should I be doing for her?

Our cat Coral has had scabs on her back/neck/legs,/tail/head since July, started with feline acne on chin. Tests for fleas/fugal culture/mites all Neg. Has been on hyrolized diet for 2 months. Changed litter to pine 1 month ago. Black spots on nose, debris in eyes. Has been on prednesilone and clavamox for a few months, scabs return when meds stop. Any ideas what else it could be? Next step is to take her to a specialist. Thanks

Hello just got 2 guinea pigs. I got them a wooden chew toy for them and there is a pine cone on it. I just saw one of them eat pieces of the pine cone is that safe?

I have two baby rats, I was using Kaytee Natural Paper Bedding and wanted to switch them to a different bedding but couldn’t figure out which one would be a safer option to switch to. I did some reading and found that Pine was dangerous to rats because of the oils so I avoided it. Recently I spoke with a breeder who said Kiln dried pine is okay and isn’t dangerous to them because the oils are all dried up but people in a rat group on Facebook have expressed concern. Is it okay to use Pine?

My kitty (age 17) has begun eating kitty litter. I have switched from clumping clay, onto Feline Pine, to Yesterdays News, and now am using Abound which is grass seed. She has eaten every on of these litters that I have tried, so think that what I finally have will not be as damaging to her as all the others I have tried. She has hyperthyroidism, kidney failure, megacolon, and arthritis. She still has a decent quality of life despite these issues, and is holding her own.

Which is better to use as hamster bedding? Paper? Pine? Or cedar? Currently I’m using paper.
