Scoop the solid waste daily, and gently shake the box so the good pellets float to the top and the sawdust drops to the bottom. Leave the sawdust in the box as it will still work to absorb moisture and odor. 3. When the box is about 90% sawdust it is time to dispose of it and start with new litter. Do not flush or put into drains. Put used litter into the trash.

Please wash hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter. Keep this plastic bag away from small children to avoid danger of suffocation.

Pellets don't stink

Shell

I used feline pine in the past and switched when I could no longer afford or keep up with it. I recently tried it again. I'm very sensitive to scents plus I also loathe the smell of pine so it wasn't so good for me; however, the scent of the product has improved, it is no longer overwhelming as it once was, and the pine scent was really only when the pellets/ dust was disturbed. In between, I had been using clumping litters exclusively so the transition to the pellets wasn't an easy one. I don't seem to get how much to put into the box at first since it pretty much doubles in size when broken down to sawdust. Not so sure the kitties are a fan of the pellets tho they use it fine. Once the pellet start to break down, they seem more comfortable. In general, though, litters that need to be stirred don't work well with multiple cats. . .especially when my four rescues don't seem to stir up but rather poorly cover their urine. I also am not sure about scooping. . .I like to remove the poo except you get all the pellets too, which is wasteful and annoying. The sifting boxes I had don't allow the sawdust to pass since the holes are too small, so I am going to try a trick from the internet. I go back and forth with how to manage the boxes now (I have four right now and it is A LOT), then end up dumping it all because of the sifting/pellets issues when I can smell pee. As far as odor control, it works. Now, it does smell once the cat poos then it will dissipate just like when a person uses the rest room. After that, it generally covers the smell tho it might require some stirring if you're sensitive like me. Other than the passing smell, which is unfortunately a doozy with my four rescues, it does fairly well at odor control. . .until it doesn't, and then I change it. The litter is HEAVY. I struggle to get the bags, to fill the boxes and to empty them especially since I have disabling injuries plus I am gettin old. I am not aware of a litter that is light for which you don't pay at least 5x as much four and I can't afford that with my lot. So I wish it were lighter, yet I can manage the fill with it easier than with a box of clumping litter. I like how the litter breaks down, just am not sure how to manage it yet. That said, the only area I see the litter tracked is immediately around the boxes. . .not sure they are good at wiping their feet at all! With clumping litter, we had to clean their feet often and would find litter and or grey/white prints everywhere. . .I switched back since the clumping litter on everything is just disgusting and impossible to keep up with cleaning. I don't find pine shavings anywhere but where the boxes are or I happen to spill it so it is good for less tracking. Overall I like the feline pine in comparison to other litter types. I am not a fan of visible poop which is more an issue with pine than other litter types. I like only passing odors unless it needs to be changed and I love less tracking. If it were lighter, it'd be great. . .as a lightweight clumping litter it would be amazing but only if it was still somewhat affordable as this is already a premium product. Won’t break down

Hard to scoop

This doesn’t seem to break down at all leaving me unable to scoop the solids without scooping a bunch of these pellets because they are so large and don’t break down. What am I doing wrong?

No, I do not recommend this product.

Terrible Smell

fireball25

Oh my god, this product smells terrible. I don’t know if it’s just me, but there is NO odor control whatsoever. My cat had a normal poop in the litter box and the scent CLEARED THE ROOM. It’s now been an hour and a half, I have scooped it and discarded it, and the room STILL smells. Yesterday, with his normal Tidy Cats litter, there was no smell and his poop was fine. I wanted to try pine pellet litter out because I had heard great things, but I am very disappointed that I spent money on that. The lack of odor control is just ridiculous, it’d be better to throw some sticks in the litter box instead of this.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Mmmmm Pine smell

Girl

Bought this for my kittens when they got spayed/neutered because the vet said it's better than clay litter after surgery. I love the natural smell. No perfumes. The kittens had no problem using it or switching it so quickly. It's not a litter that I would have ALL the time, but it is nice if you like natural options.

Yes, I recommend this product.

can I put used litter around my trees etc.? after cleaning out the poop of course

  1. I tested the Ph of used, stinky Feline Pine, and was very surprised to find it only slightly acidic. I put it around my blueberry bushes!

What kind of litter box is best - shifting or non-shifting?

  1. Hi Sarahmarki, We would recommend checking out this article by The Spruce Pets for a review on sifting vs non-sifting litter boxes. https://www.thesprucepets.com/petmate-arm-and-hammer-large-sifting-litter-pan-review-5179321. Thank you.

Has this pine litter been kiln-dried? I understand this is important because pine resins are bad for cats.

  1. I do not know whether or not Feline Pine is kiln-dried.  It is a good litter, have used it for upwards of 10 years without any issues regarding my cats’ health.

can i use this for a rabbit???

  1. Hi EdWoRd, We do not recommend any of our cat litters be used in pet cages or as pet bedding, including for rabbits. Thanks!

Because this is made by Arm and Hammer, does this contain baking soda?

  1. No, just compressed pine

Can I put this in my green garbage can for other items like leaves and yard waste?

  1. Hello Letych, We recommend only disposing of used litter in the traditional garbage, not green waste.

I have a filtering litter box (the ones with holes in the bottom) and my cat always seem to leak urine out of the box. I'm actually pretty fond of the litter, but the leaking is a big issue. Anyone else have this problem?

  1. Yes, I think the box might be too small for your kitty.  My guy is in the box, but his bottom is just over the edge.  I had to get plastic sweater boxes (those that can slide under beds for storage) without the lids.  That way he can fit entirely in the box.  Of course, I had to change kitty litters.

Any litter box recommendations to use with this litter? The one they recommend on the website doesn't have a hood

  1. Hi Chaundy, choosing a litter box is a personal preference. You may need to try different litter boxes in order to find one that works for your cat. Thank you.

Does this work in the breeze litter box? How is it different from the breeze pellets?

  1. Yes! I found a larger cat box to use instead of the little tray. Took out the tray and found large pee pads to put in the larger cat box and set the top of the Breeze on top of that. Works great! You can move the pellets around so the dust falls thru the grate on the Breeze box and scoop or use tongs to get the poop out. I clean it every day and it does not smell at all. I love it!! And my long haired girlie loves it too!

Is this product (Feline Pine Cat Litter) flushable? We have regular sewer system, not the septic.

  1. Sorry, no it is definitely not a good idea to flush this litter, whether trying to flush it in pellet-form or just the dust from the broken-down pellets, it will stick inside the pipes and clog-up your system. I didn't flush it but my sister did and after 1 month needed a plumber for a major repair job.
