Equi-Bute

My horse got some hoary allysium in her hay and it caused her to have severe stocking up in her legs to the point I was worried she would founder. We live rurally and it can be hard to get a vet here. If this happens again i am wondering what can I give her to help her- would bute work? I also would like advice for preventing this from happening again...? I am not in a position to get rid of all my hay that we are saving for winter! Thanks for your time :)

Hi what is this, Is it an abscess? Just on the heel bulb/coronet band. She came in last night but wasn't sure what it was as just heat, swelling and lameness. She's had a sachet of bute and this is what it looks like now. The flash on my camera makes it look more yellow I don't think it is infected, the wound at the top just under her fetlock I was told was infected but the vet came out(was useless)but told me it wasn't infected. Since two days Rusty was in severe pain and he couldn't even walk at all. See by emergency vet to prescribed Vetergesic inj stat and Gabapentin 300mg twice daily. Yesterday, my vet did some blood tests before starting him on Loxicom. She informed me that I can start Rusty onLoxicom as liver is ok. Today I sent copy of the results to my pet physio and was worried due to high level of ALP and high Neuthrophils meaning (according to her) there is an infection somewhere apart from the anaemia.
