Hello and thank you for reaching out to pet coach. Generally there is no need to be concerned about ingestion of a very small amount of this type of ice cream. Larger amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhea, or even pancreatitis in some dogs. However, a small amount is really not going to affect a dog like Tofu. Thank you for reaching out.

Thank you for using Boop by Petco today to find out if chocolate chip cookie dough ice creams poses any risk to your dog. Dogs can indulge in small amounts of some flavors of ice cream, but moderation is key; a spoonful or two of ice cream once or twice a week is generally OK. A few licks of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream is unlikely to cause any problems, even if she ate a chocolate chip or two or some cookie dough. Because dogs have trouble breaking down lactose, consuming larger amounts of ice cream can lead to gastrointestinal issues. The high fat content of ice cream could also lead to more serious issues, including pancreatitis. Beware of sugar-free brands and flavors that contain xylitol, an artificial sweetener that is highly toxic to dogs. I hope Maggy enjoyed her snack! :-)

I think Chewy had himself a snack! No it should not cause any harm. If he has a really sensitive gut, it might make some diarrhea for a day. But I doubt even that is going to happen. Since ice cream has a lot of sugar, some of his gut bacteria might have a field day with gas production......sooooo that may be a temporary side effect.

Thank you for relying Boop by Petco today to ask if you can give your dog ice cream cone. I can't say that it's the best idea for Jovie, but I would be lying if I said I haven't give my dog a small amount of [ice cream](https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/ice-cream/) from time to time. You might expect some diarrhea from ice cream, but that is likely the worst consequence she may have. Beagles have tough tummies in my experience since they tend to eat just about everything. Minor upset can typically be managed at home with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards.

Monitor him very closely for any signs or symptoms. The amount of chocolate would be quite small but may cause agitation, muscle twitching or even seizures requiring treatment. The ice cream may cause vomiting, diarrhea or even pancreatitis with severe pain. A probiotic and fiber supplement such as fortiflora may help rebalance the gut also
