I have one cat who has been diagnosed with renal failure - early stages. She is six year old, and a very small kitty (6 pounds). She is now on Royal Canin Renal Support Dry food, which she seem to like pretty well, but I have two other cats in the house who do not need the food, but they like it also and will not eat their food (Taste of the Wild Dry Food). My 16 yr old Persian cat was recently diagnosed w/kidney disease. Doc prescribed Hill's Kidney Care. I've been trying to give the canned version for the first time ever because of dehydration. She eats some, but not enough, & has dropped from her usual 7 1/2 lbs to about 5 1/2 lbs. She licks & licks, but it takes forever for her to get it in. She also seems unable to pick up the dry version because of it's shape & size and her flat face. What can I do to get her to eat enough?
My cat was diagnosed with kidney failure and has gastrointestinal problems. We are trying to change the diet to one that would be fitting, such as Renal both wet and dry from Royal Canine and Gastrointestinal from Royal Canine, these are the only foods available in my area for these two diseases. My cat has had Royal Canin Urinary SO normal calorie dry food for past 8 years after getting struvite stone surgery. In last 6mo. she has gone from 8lb to 6.3lb. vet says it's because she hasn't been eating well and leukemia virus, thyroid, CBC, kidney fox were normal. She started on SO wet food but only eats a little (<1can/day + Little of ad lib dry). We tried blue wilderness wet salmon food for higher protein (sarcopenia bc low protein in SO diet.) Will this help her gain/maintain weight?
Dear friends; my 15 y.o. cat is chronic renal. she takes 125 ml serum w/lactate every 48 hs. No appetite: I must feed her Recovery & AD 120 ml/day via a seringe in the mouth. The only food she will eat spontaneouly is ND tuna or tuna&salmon. I live in Brazil, these cans are imported, very expensive. The vet told not to feed commercial canned tuna for its sodium content. Question: what if I buy natural tuna or salmon at the fishmonger and give her? Thank you VERY much!
My cat is 15 years old, prone to kidney stones and is diabetic. He also has no fangs. I feed him the dry cd prescription food but sometimes he has a hard time eating it. He will not eat the can CD. In the evening I give him a 1/2 jar of meat baby food, there is no sugar in it, is this safe for him. IF not what else soft can I feed him. He is very picky.
After cat fight & treated at vet with Covina, rabies, anti inflam shot, my indoor/outdoor cat recovered indoors for 3 weeks. He started going outside again in a limited way. He gained weight. Senior Ferrel cat is getting thin and not eating as much. Appears to be getting thin and losing muscle mass, trouble climbing fence. Unable to approach, but comes by twice a day. looking for a food that may help.
