Sr. cat with stage 2 renal failure. She struggles with constipation, inadequate water drinking, arthritis, toothless, cataracts, and deafnesss. She is on Royal Canin kidney recipe as the most tolerable of choices to-date (really didn't care for Hill Science version). Have been mixing with fancy feast kitty or adult pate, laxative and Cosequin. Recently found Delectables bisques to add instead of fancy feast. She seems to like well & I can add water, upping her intake. Ash content concern.
What is the best dry and wet food for cats with & kidney health issues?
Best low-carb wet food for cats?
My cat has renal failure he won't eat any of the different brands to help renal failure he will only eat gourmet senior pâté food is that good for cats with renal failure or is bad for them. He is 23 years old and has broken teeth so can you recommend any food similar to the gourmet senior pate food that supports him and puts weight on him
My 16 yr old Persian cat was recently diagnosed w/kidney disease. Doc prescribed Hill's Kidney Care. I've been trying to give the canned version for the first time ever because of dehydration. She eats some, but not enough, & has dropped from her usual 7 1/2 lbs to about 5 1/2 lbs. She licks & licks, but it takes forever for her to get it in. She also seems unable to pick up the dry version because of it's shape & size and her flat face. What can I do to get her to eat enough?
Hi I was speaking with one of your vets before about senior diet cat foods that are less stressful on the kidneys. Suggestions were purina pro plan 11+, hills science 11+ & royal canin aging 12+, all canned. He wasn't crazy about these but seems to like hills science diet mature 7+ savory chicken minced canned entree. It says its also lower in phosphorus but would love someone's opinion or experience with this food. Thx!!
My cat was diagnosed with kidney failure and has gastrointestinal problems. We are trying to change the diet to one that would be fitting, such as Renal both wet and dry from Royal Canine and Gastrointestinal from Royal Canine, these are the only foods available in my area for these two diseases. But my cat doesn't want to eat at all. Would it be possible to add to his diet a bit of chicken meat at least once a day or mixed with the wet food?
My 15 year old cat has stage 2 kidney disease. She shows no changes in her personality or daily habits. She will not eat any of the renal wet prescription diet food that our vet has suggested. What would be the best brand of store shelf wet food for her? I have been reading labels for high protein and moisture, good Omega 3, low phosphorus and alot of brands seem to be about the same. She is a fussy eater.
What food and supports the kidney by cats Omega 3 and 6 is that helpful
Right now I am feeding mostly pate cans of Fancy Feast - 4 cats - 6 bowls and I feed separately to one who is old and I do this or she would never get any. My vet wanted my one cat Kahlua on a Hill's prescription G/D diet hard foot so I leave that out for free feed. This has brought her lab values back to normal. They are becoming fat. Is it okay to continue like this? Thanks.
What is the best diet for cats with kidney disease?
I've got a sample pack of renal food in both wet and dry. So far my cats been eating wet l. He was on SO food and when I tried the dry he immediately threw it up. Will he also throw up the dry renal food? I'd like to offer him both wet and dry to ensure he's getting enough calories but now dry food makes me nervous. Thanks
