The collar works very well for us. Our English Cocker Spaniel had developed the odd habit of barking and throwing himself against the sides of his soft travel crate, whenever we turned into a parking lot, or entered a drive through, or spoke to anyone outside of the car. He appears to love to ride, and did not display this behavior for the first 18 months of his life. We were baffled. We purchased this collar, and put it on him when he enters the car. The problem is solved. He barks once, the collar emits a hiss, and he stops any further barking. It does take a little effort to ensure his neck hair does not impede the collar function, but otherwise it works very well for us.

I bought this a couple days ago and the first use went very well, it worked as it should and was very effective. However, since then it has gone off several times while walking, squatting to pee and while minimally whining. Maybe the one I got is defective?

I bought this collar for my 4 year old dog, Luna, who has always been highly reactive to other dogs, especially while on leash. We recently adopted a second dog and while walking them, Luna saw another dog, started barking and lunged toward the dog right in front of me, tripping me making me fall face forward onto my other dog and the pavement. I had no choice but to fix this situation and training techniques had not been working. I was skeptical when I bought the PetSafe Audible Bark Collar but was desperate for anything that could help and I did not want to use a shock collar. It immediately startled Luna and made her stop barking and being reactive. It took her a week or so to fully stop barking with it on. Now, even if the collar is turned off, she restrains herself from barking just knowing it might make the spraying noise. Now she is much more manageable on walks. I felt like crying after walking both dogs tonight because we passed two dogs and Luna, with PetSafe collar on, did not make a sound. I use it only while walking her and while she rides in the car and it has been very effective. I do use treat distraction and a harness too. My only complaint about PetSafe is how loud it is when turning it on and off. My dog is startled by beeping sounds so it scares her away whenever I turn it on or off. I wish there was a way to silence this sound. I have just been leaving it turned on 24/7 and the battery is lasting a long time. Overall this product has made our walks much safer, more calm and much more enjoyable. PetSafe is great because it automatically alarms with the spraying sound immediately instead of the owner having to push a button to alert the dog, it is instant. Well done PetSafe, you have really helped me and my dogs! Thank you!

My dog got used to the hissing noise very quickly and it doesn't stop her from barking at all. Now there is just a loud hissing noise added to her loud barking :( would return if I could.

I like that it is rechargeable, saves on battery costs. Just began using the collar, our Chocolate Lab responds to the tone and snaps out of her barking episodes briefly. We are adding in behavior modification routines to reinforce the collar's tone as suggested. Happy with the results so far.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] they don't call it pet safe for no reason. great product my dog was barking at everything under the sun but this has allowed us to really narrow down the barks. she doesn't seem hurt by the collar more like she wanted to be aware that there's no danger. great product.

Inconsistent activation of the noise used to deter barking. I have three dogs. One cannot tolerate the device which is a disappointing. The noise frightens him significantly rather than simply annoying him. I wouldn't say it is a problem with the device just a dog very sensitive to sounds. If I could lower the volume I could work for him. My second dog was born barking. He is not overly sensitive to sounds however, the device frequently does not activate as needed. I've reviewed the fitting, confirming it fits snugly just below his mouth, but 80% of the time it does not make the sound. When the sound is activated it works beautifully. In addition, the device will randomly make the sound. Example, it is on a shelf first thing in the morning, I'll walk by and poof, the sound goes off. Trust me when I say I wasn't barking, just walking. My third dog will take his cues from the other two dogs so it is hit or miss stopping him from barking. Hit when the sound is made, miss when it isn't made.
