Tangs are commonly referred to as surgeon fish due to having a sharp spine that looks like a "scalpel" at the base of their caudal (tail) fin that is used for protection, so use caution when handling. Adults tend to live alone in the wild, so they should not be kept with fish that look similar, like other tangs, though they should be peaceful towards most other tank mates. Adult Lieutenant Tangs are found inhabiting lagoons and seaward reefs of the Indian Ocean. They will grow to be about 10" in size and have a tan body with darker outlining and vibrant blue colorations. Full grown adults of this tang will need around 180 gallons; however, you can get away with smaller aquariums when they are juveniles.

ACCLIMATION: Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. For new aquariums, adding new fish slowly helps to properly develop the nitrogen cycle, which creates a safe environment for your aquatic pets. A bacteria booster may also help develop a new aquarium for your new fish. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried, and frozen food, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller, unfiltered aquariums.
Cautionary note, all triggers have sharp teeth and may bite when they feel threatened, use caution when working in the aquarium.

Tank developed a rash on his inner thigh. Can you please tell me what it could be?
Repost to Dr. Lindsey Edwards. We have a very sick cat who is FIV positive. He tested positive for mycoplasma felis and Chryseobacterium indologenes. Orbifloxacin had limited effect. He has lost 34% body weight and been off drugs for 3 weeks but was treated 23 Feb with T-cyte LTCI. He's slightly better today. Blood work shows low hemoglobin and MCH but normal lymphocytes. Should he still be treated for these two bacteria above? Do you have experience on LTCI? Any advice? Thank you for your time.

What is going on with the dark color in Peppers touge
Tangerine has a lot of trouble flying, she can only fly a small ways and her brother can fly great! They are both the same age and had their wings clipped at the same time yet Tangerine's wings haven't grown back and it's been 3 months. Her brother's wings are fully grown. Also I came back from vaca in June with my Mom taking care of them. Tangy's wing tips were ruffled and misshaped. She also has had ruffled feathers on her right shoulder for a while. Nothing traumatic has happened to cause it.
