Sturdy, secure, great extended height. Cats still can jump over or fit through bars, but I purchased it to separate the dog and it works great. I highly recommend this gate and if the puppy chews the bars, no big deal, as they are metal. Instructions are a bit unclear, but easy enough to figure out after looking at all the parts. The wrench like tool is useless, however the knobs are easly tightened manually. Wish I bought this gate first instead of the other one I purchased.

This would have been a wonderful buy but it came damaged and had to return it.

We recently adopted a 1 year old pit bull mix approximately 35 lbs. We put this gate up in a bedroom doorway to temporarily keep her separated from the two existing cats. It adjusted easily and is quite sturdy even though it is not permanently mounted (although it comes with that option). The top of the gate fits just below the doorknob so we can close the bedroom door at night without removing the gate. It's fairly easy to allow a person through with just one hand, just slide button on top of gate with your thumb while pulling upward. It can open inward or outward. Then it swings shut and locks in place after you are through. And she and the cats can get to know each other without really touching each other. We may get another for the top of the stairs.

This is a great gate. For one year. The gate's feature of closing behind itself is awesome. We don't have to worry about closing the gate behind us. The only problem I have with this gate. The auto close function lasts about 6 months. The piece that allows it to close automatically breaks. I have had two of these in one year and both broke the same way. you would think that it isn't a big problem. but when the part breaks it prevents you from opening the gate all the way.
