My dog and 2 cats have fleas. I have tried baths,sprays and collars and still I am finding bugs on them. What would be the best budget friendly product to try next?

Regarding OTC products, Frontline is still a good option. Do know there is a diference between what you can buy without a prescription. Generally know the products sold by your vet are the most effective. Top products for dogs are oral products such as Simparica and Nexgard. Top products for cats are topicals such as Revolution and Cheristan. There is also an oral product called Comfortis that both dogs and cats can take. You will need to switch all the pets over to a good flea product. Make sure to discuss these products with your veterinarian first. These products are generally safe for all pets but there are some conditions which are contraindicated for the oral products. Cleaning up and treating the house and yard will also help but it will not clear all the fleas. The main control is making sure the pets are on good products. This is what will ultimately stop the infestation. Also remember every female fleas lays about 50 eggs a day and it could take up to 6 months before the egg

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing their allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. All

Hello. Petco carries a number of products that might help. Zymox makes a spray & a salve that contains hydrocortisone, that can really help with the itching. On-line, you can find many more products such as shampoos & conditioners that also contain hydrocortisone. Topicals only work for short periods of time. Longer relief can be obtained with immunostimulants such as Apoquel & Cytopoint, both available from your veterinarian. Your pet may also have additional issues such as skin mites, fleas, bacterial & yeast infections in the skin, & your veterinarian can certainly help to sort some of these issues out. My cats are on lamisil cream but i stopped putting it cause they keep licking it, and i tried everything a cone and the donut ones but its just not working theyre old and never used such stuff so theyre not getting used to it at all. What can i do ?

You can try pet clothes but I would not bandage since you could cause more issues if the bandage doesn't fit correctly. I would have the cats examined by a vet, those lesions are quite typical of ringworm in cats. It could be allergic (fleas, food allergies, atopy), bacterial, viral, immune-mediated, etc. Topical ointments are not a very good treatment for the reasons you have observed. Often oral medications work better.
