You can purchase certain vaccines at farm supply stores. This, however, is not recommended because shipping, handling and storage under prior conditions cannot be guaranteed. Improper storage can decrease efficacy. Additionally, a pet should be examined first before any vaccine to confirm good health. It is never recommended to vaccinate a sick pet. Lastly, vaccine administration should be done properly to ensure efficacy. The only vaccine that cannot be purchased OTC is the rabies vaccine.

These really do have to be done. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Best Friends also has a list of resources that offer financial assistance on their website. http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_pet.html?credit=web_id91754962 https://www.redrover.org https://www.carecredit.com http://bestfriends.org/resources/financial-aid-pets http://lessonsfromaparalyzeddog.com/when-pet-owners-cant-afford-veterinary-bills/ http://www.dogheirs.com/resources-affordable-veterinary-care/

Petco carries a variety of flea and tick medication over the counter. You can only get a prescription product from a veterinarian if they have examined Bruno. Petco does offer vaccine clinics but you would need to check with the specific services individually. Here is a link: https://www.vetcoclinics.com/ I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hello, thank you for your question about Miskit. There are two 'core' vaccines required in cats, meaning that all cats should receive these vaccines regardless of their environment. All animals should be vaccinated against Rabies, even if they are indoor only, as Rabies can be transmitted to humans and is life threatening. The second vaccine that is considered required for all cats is called 'feline distemper' (the vaccine is often abbreviated FVRCP). This vaccine prevents cats from becoming infected with many life-threatening viral diseases. If your cat has never received this vaccine before, it is likely that your veterinarian will recommend he receive his first shot and then a booster vaccine 3-4 weeks later to ensure he develops appropriate immunity to these viruses. Hope this helps, Miskit is very handsome!
