In January our cat was diagnosed with crystals in his urine. He was put on Hills Urinary Control food. For a short time I was able to get Royal Canin Treats for him. Then the vets said they couldn't approve them until he was seen in their office.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! So your Vet will prescribe the prescription food but not the treats? I would ask to speak to your Vet directly. Sadly anything that is prescription requires a valid Veterinary-Client-Patient-Relationship (VCPR). A VCPR requires a yearly exam which is what the law/veterinary boards require from the Vet. Any refill on prescriptions need yearly exams. With that being said you may be able to find the treats online as it is hard to enforce prescription diets, let alone treats. For what it is worth it is in the best interest of Oscar to have yearly exams and be up to date on his vaccines. I wish you the best!

Hi, I bought the attached snack from pet store. Is it suitable for Noushi ? P.S. Noushi takes another multivitamin everyday per vet's advice which has taurine like this snack. Is too much taurine harmful ?

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! The treat is fine, just follow the dosing instructions on the back of the treat bag. With any new treat watch for upset stomach signs: vomit and diarrhea. Extra taurine is not harmful, she will just urinate out the excess. Have a great day!

My cat found my younger sisters Halloween candy and at about 13 Smarties tablets (nearly one whole package). Should I take her to the vet asap or should she be okay?

Candies and smarties contains different type of sugars and possibly xylitol and chocolate, which are both toxic to dogs and cats. An immediate check up is required to make your cat sick and give medication to reduce gastrointestinal absorption of toxics. Limit table food as much as possible. It is fine to give a tiny bit as a treat or reward occasionally as long as it does not contain onion or garlic. Cat specific treats can be used as rewards for positive behavior and during play. Again, limit quantities to avoid obesity.

My cat is on urinary tract health cat food. Is it okay to give him regular cat treats? Also, does the food have to come from the vet or is the food from the pet store just as good?

As with all treats, moderation is the best approach. You can give Ashton cat treats here and there and they will not mess up his diet, if you feed one or two a day. However, instead of food treats, treat him with cat nip sprinkled on a towel....he will love this even more. Prescription urinary health food usually has to come from the vet.
