My dog has very high liver enzymes 224 alt and 1976 alkp. These are down from>2000 and 296 after denamarin twice a day. We are now adding ursodiol 1/2 250 mg pill twice a day. At 15 pounds this seems higher than the recommeded doses I have read. Your
Hello. The dose range for Ursodiol is 10-15 mg/kg every 12- 24 hours, depending on how severe the hepatobiliary disease is. This is equal to 68 - 102 mgs for a 15 pound dog. This medication has a wide range of safety, so 1/2 tablet will not be harmful to your pet. However, if Casper were to develop any adverse signs such as diarrhea, then the dose may need to be modified. Otherwise, do follow your veterinarians recommendation. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

I cannot find this particular product on the Petco website. It's possible that it's available at your local store and you could try giving them a call. My dog has a history of urinary infections so is permanently on a diet of Hills UD wet food but I've run out and the tins are out of stock everywhere?
It looks like it is still available through Petsmart and Petco website for an online order, or you can wait until your vet opens on tomorrow to get it there if they keep it in stock. Typically your vet can get it ordered pretty quickly for their patients. Jaydee should be fine if it takes a week or two to get his Rx food. Visit your local pet store and get Hill's Science diet senior food (small bag) for now to hold him over.

Hello. Petco carries a number of products that might help. Zymox makes a spray & a salve that contains hydrocortisone, that can really help with the itching. On-line, you can find many more products such as shampoos & conditioners that also contain hydrocortisone. Topicals only work for short periods of time. Longer relief can be obtained with immunostimulants such as Apoquel & Cytopoint, both available from your veterinarian. Your pet may also have additional issues such as skin mites, fleas, bacterial & yeast infections in the skin, & your veterinarian can certainly help to sort some of these issues out. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! If Freckles appears to have secondary skin infections, you could consider medicated shampoos containing chlorhexidine. This is generally good in these type of scenarios. Fish oil is a supplement that may also prove beneficial. Good luck!
