How to create a budget-friendly cat room setup for cats and a dog?
Hi, in terms of cat furniture don’t worry cats don’t need anything particularly fancy. They enjoy sitting on a shelf as in the picture and look outside the window. You would add some cardboard boxes that can also work as cratching posts and a couple of pillow on the bookshelf. I think the feeding area would better be moved, because being right in front of the windows is exposed, they can see/be seen and could spot something that might upset them. It is also advisable to keep feeding areas away from their litter tray and perhaps moving it would help increasing this distance. Are there only two cats in the room ? If so also consider the number of litter trays. I mo not sure how many you have at present, and if things work out well I probably would suggest not to change them. You can find lots of ideas in building/creating cat furniture from ikea furniture if you fancy a change in the future. My Boxer has Cushing's. Why does the vet recommend LDDST before HDDST?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Your Vet needs the LDDS first to make the diagnosis that Roxy does actually have Cushings.....and sometimes we can tell from the LDDS if the Cushings is more likely PDH in origin vs tumor (since 70% of patients with PDH suppress plasma cortisol to less than 50% of the pre-treatment value ). If Roxy does not suppress to less than 1/2 of the pre treatment value at 4 hours, then we need the HDDS test which helps us to differentiate Cushings due to adrenal tumor vs PDS. So LDDS first. Then HDDS if the LDDS did not suggest PDH. Other simple things to look at with Roxy: urinary incontinence, trying her on a Proin or DES trial and looking at her vulvar conformation and make sure she doesn't need a vulvoplasty. Good luck!

Adopting a new dog is so much fun! Whenever bringing a new dog into the home, it should be done slowly with the existing animals already there to make the transition smoothly. The new dog should be kept separated from the other animals when home alone to avoid any problems, and their interactions should be monitored when you are home so you can separate them at any problem. I'm not sure if you have any additional animals in the home, but if you have cats for example, it's normal they will hiss at the dog. Do not allow them to swipe at the dog, separating them right away if you notice the cat getting upset. Also do not allow the dog to chase the cats. If you don't have any other animals in your home, then just be patient with the dog as it acclimates to his new house. Moving into a new home can be stressful, and some dogs may not eat or drink at first. This will pass in time.
