The problem with the surgical suit is that it may not let the incision breathe as well as it should in order to quickly heal. You could try an inflatable collar - it looks like an airplane pillow and sold at the pet stores. Make sure you get a big enough size - if it is too small it won't work. This works well with most incisions on the body but doesn't work for anything on a leg/foot. I hope this helps!

This likely won't cause harm to the surgical site, but if she removes or doesn't wear the e-collar (cone), she may lick or chew at the incision /sutures. Try placing the collar then sitting with her and distract her until she calms down. Her response is a common one initially but usually passes. Other options include a donut collar or Bite-Not collar. There are also vests or shirts that can be fitted to protect incisions while healing. Check out the Suitical (www.suitical.com) or the SurgiSnuggly (www.surgisnuggly.com).

You are too kind! Yes, a recovery suit would be a great option if Bella will wear one, and crating her is also an excellent idea. It would keep her from running and jumping, and would help keep her quiet.

I can't see your previous questions, but if a staple was pulled, either of your options is possible, however the swelling may have been caused by the movement due to irritation of the tissues as well as part of the healing process. If the staple is very badly torn, or the suture site is opening, having your vet look at it and repair it as needed is best. If your pup is very upset with having the cone on, many pet stores carry "donut" collars that are like little rings that go around, as well as soft-sided cones. These can be a lot easier for a pet to handle and prevents them from bumping into walls, etc while still preventing them from getting to sutures/staples.

Mast cell tumor incision sites often dehisce (come open) because of the nature of this type of tumor. Staples are not likely to hold either. Without seeing it myself it is hard to say what treatment would be best. You may have to let it heal by second intention (let it fill in and heal naturally). I suggest you speak to your vet about starting Skippy on some antihistamines which may help with the dehiscence of the incision.
