Thank you for submitting your question and congratulations on your first dog! Treats should not comprise more than 10% of the diet. They should be given in small amounts. If you are giving Milk Bones, by the tiny size and only give several a day. Most dogs in this country are overweight. Being strict with his diet from the start with help to prevent this from occurring with him. As far as the best chew, it is based on the individual dog. The chew needs to be something he enjoys, but more importantly something he cannot break pieces off and swallow. This can become a surgery to remove. I hope this information helps!

I have a 5 month old Pomsky puppy. I want to feed her healthy treats while I'm training her. Would you be able to tell me a little bit about the ingredients? Like what to look for and what to avoid? Thanks in advance!
A few general recommendations: stick with well known brands with a good reputation. Look for products made in the USA. Kibble works great for treats and I use Purina Pro Plan chicken or lamb and rice. Dry biscuit type treats usually have less calories and salt. The jerky or moist type treats are fine in moderation (they have more calories and salt usually). Lastly, many dogs really like dehydrated chicken livers and chicken jerky. Hello. If Pluto is doing well on a lamb based diet, then the lamb treats should be perfect for him. They do make hypoallergenic dog treats, but you may need to get them from your veterinarian. If Pluto has a relapse or breakthrough skin rash, immediately stop the lamb treats & you will most likely just need to stick with his kibble. Thanks for contacting Boop by Petco.

Hello and thank you for your post on Boop by Petco! I like to use Tricky Trainers because they are grain free and are only 4kcal/treat. They also smell amazing to dogs and seem to be quite tasty to them. You can purchase these at any major pet supplies store. I hope this helps!
