These are the optrex eye drops I was wondering if I could use them on the stray cat. I have been using sea salt and warm water for today but wanted to know if these eye drops would clear it up
It is never recommended to medicate a pet without the advice of your veterinarian. A physical exam is strongly recommended to confirm infection so the appropriate antibiotic can be used. Inappropriate antibiotic use can lead to resistant bacteria and may complicate any underlying conditions. If you choose to use this medication, chloramphenicol can cause serious blood abnormalities, thus should be handled with caution.

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Piper. Poor girl. You can get some sterile saline and use that to flush her eyes twice daily until you are able to get her into the vet. You should be able to find some sterile saline at a pharmacy. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I only recommend erythromycin or terramycin be used in a cats eye. I recommend, if Riley is having an issue with her eyes, that you see a Veterinarian before putting anything in them. You don't want to do more harm than good. Cats are very sensitive and can react to many eye medications and can react to them all! I hope this helps and I wish you the best!

We have an outdoor cat whose eye has been tearing consistently for the past few days. My husband cleaned it with warm wet compress, but it is still teary. I just noticed that there may be some puss. Is there away to get medicine for her?
If there is pus, then there is probably an infection/conjunctivitis. You can try Terramycin eye ointment. It is the only one that does not require a prescription. We are not allowed to write prescriptions over the internet for animals we have never examined - it's against the law. Cat has minimal amount of discharge (kinda like sleep) around her eye, think something may be irritating it, can I flush her eye with normal saline or rewetting eye drops?
Yes, you can try just plain saline. Flush gently for a few seconds. But if you don't see any improvement within 24 hours, I would have Onyx checked out by a vet. There could be a small scratch or ulcer causing the discharge to build up, or even the start of an upper respiratory tract infection.
