Hello. At that dose & with a single acute ingestion, I would not expect to see anything in the dog or older cat. But if the kitten ingested the 20 mg, then you may see symptoms of serotonin syndrome. This could include vomiting & diarrhea, & neurological signs such as ataxia or incoordination while walking, agitation, tremors, mild seizures, vocalization, disorientation, or even sedation & lethargy. You could take the smallest cat to your veterinarian for possible decontamination, or just keep a close watch on everyone for any concerning signs I have mentioned. If everyone does well over the next 12 hours, then you should have no worries. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hi, I can understand why you are anxious for your road trip! It sounds like Ainsley has quite severe motion sickness. Cerenia is the best drug for this and has two dose ranges (one for general nausea, and another range which is higher for motion sickness ). Legally I am not allowed to give dosing information about medications without having performed a physical exam on her. I am certain that your vet would be able to tell you if she's at the maximum dose for her weight. Also they can advise on the safety of using other drugs alongside cerenia. You could also consider trying Adaptil which is a pheromone product which can help with anxiety, particularly for travel. It comes as a collar and a spray that would likely help her as well.

I'm wondering if Portifoy is on aripiprazole or Abilify, and if this is causing adverse signs due to serotonin syndrome. I can't find any information on dosing in cats, but I would imagine that like most antidepressants hyperexcitability might be a symptom. Amitriptyline is another common medication that is used as an antidepressant in situations like this that can cause odd behavior. I'd recommend talking to your vet about whether or not you should continue the medications. While gabapentin can cause sedation I think it would be less likely to cause these symptoms.

Hi there. Yes, you should be able to get it compounded into a flavored liquid (like chicken or fish) if this would be easier for you to give. You may have a local compounding pharmacy that can do this, or you can use an online pharmacy like Wedgewood or Vets First Choice. I would recommend calling your veterinarian tomorrow to talk about this - he/she should be able to tell you where you can have this done, and can write a new prescription for the compounded medication.

Mixing those medications has potential cause serotonin syndrome. I would consult with your prescribing vet before combing them due to this side effect. In some instances it is needed but as a last resort and the doses have to be reduced in order to be used together
