Have a spunky new rescue chihuahua mix and she is skittish. So much so she will resist any efforts to trim her nails. We have 4 dogs so I have trimmed nails hundreds of times--but with Ricki Ricardo, no luck. I sit on the floor and flip them over
Congratulations on your new dog Ricky Ricardo! In my opinion, there’s not really a superior nail trimmer but for small breed dogs, the AKC does recommend the guillotine type as compared to the scissor type. Try conditioning Ricky to have a positive association with the clippers. This can be managed with high value treats and clicker training. Basically you start by rewarding her every time she looks at the clippers (click. treat). Then you gradually bring the clippers closer and touch her with the clippers. Every time she gets a reward. Then you slowly progress to clipping 1 nail (click. treat). And so on and so forth. It may not always be easy but it’s a start and hopefully she will allow it to happen. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! As you have probably noticed there are plenty of diets in the market. There are a few that stand out in my opinion in terms of quality and palatability. I really like the Science Diet, Royal Canin and Purina Pro Plan products. A diet that I have found to be of very good quality, affordable and dogs love is the Purina Pro Plan shredded blends. You can find that at your local pet store or online. Otherwise any of the diets of the previously mentioned brands would also be good choices for Harley. Good luck!

Hi there. Rogue is adorable!! Thanks for the photos! I would suggest you try putting him in the crate with a REALLY good treat for small periods of time each day. Start with only 5 minutes and then each day increase by a minute or two. When I say a REALLY good treat I mean one like a Kong with stuff inside so that #1, it is a good experience for him to be inside the crate from the moment he gets in and #2, it will occupy him for some period of time (instead of a small bite of a treat he eats in one second). https://www.kongcompany.com/101/kong-101/ Hope this helps.
