Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Both foods are good! Personally I would save the novel protein (trout) for animals with GI or skin disease. My only requirements for food brands for my clients are: the dog likes the food and eats it well, has a good coat, defecates normal stool regularly and isn't too thin or overweight. Most of the dog foods on the market are aimed at making the owner happy and use marketing ploys to get owners to feed foods for incorrect reasons (grain free, listing ingredients on the bag in differnet orders making owners think that it is better than another brand). Expensive food doesn't equal better. I like Purina, Royal Canin and Hill's Science diet. I hope this helps!

What dog food is better iams or purina one? I currently feed him purina one but it’s getting a little pricey and I’m thinking about switching to a new food. Also what other foods should I look into for him? He has sensitive skin issues.
Both are good foods. I personally feed my dogs Iams, so if you wanted to switch to that, it's fine to do. It's important to know when switching foods to do it slowly so that Scooby doesn't get any GI upset. Start by mixing 75% old food and 25% new food, and feeding that for a couple of days. Over the course of two weeks, gradually increase the amount of new food and decrease the amount of old food until he is eating the new food only. Other brands I recommend include Royal Canin and Hill's Science diet, but those would be pricier than the Purina One and Iams. I hope this helps!

Opinions on Purina adult dog and puppy food for all 3 of my dogs?
Hello. Purina is a very good dog food manufacturer. They are one of the few companies that actually have veterinary nutritionists overseeing all of their clinical feed trials. I even visited their equine research center several years ago & their facilities & dedication to animal nutrition are phenomenal. Next to Purina, you really cannot go wrong with a Science Diet or Royal Canin food. These are generally the top 3 on any veterinarians recommended food list. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hi, while there are many opinions on which dog food is best, the general consensus is that any food that lists meat as the first ingredient is a decent food. Corn is just filler and is not harmful to a dog unless he has allergies or a sensitive stomach. Your food should not be a large percentage of corn. Grain free food is very popular as some dogs can be sensitive to grain. There is no easy answer as to what is the best dog food out there, it is what works for your particular dog. The most expensive food is not necessarily needed. The organic and holistic foods are aimed at people thinking that dogs have the same nutritional needs, in my opinion. I would chose a high quality food with meat listed as the first ingredient, a low percentage of filler like corn, and no extra additives like colors or dyes. If you choose a high quality food like those purchased at a pet store and your dog seems to be tolerating it well, stick with that food. If he has diarrhea or skin problems, he may need

Hello. There is absolutely nothing wrong with feeding Purina Dog Chow if your dog is doing well on it. Just because it does not have a fancy name does not make it a bad food & some of the really pricy brands are pretty crappy. Purina, along with Hill's & Royal Canin, are the most respected dog food manufacturers. These companies employ veterinary nutritionists to formulate & test their products on real dogs & this means more to veterinarians than any formula just based on laboratory data. Purina does have a premium line, but I just feed my dogs the Purina One. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
