Hello. The cats & kittens offered at Petco are actually managed by individual rescue groups. Prices will differ from rescue to rescue. All cats can do well if they are played with & fussed over once you get home. Can they get into trouble & sometimes make a mess? Absolutely. If you do not want hair & dander & kitty litter tracked all over the house, you should not have a pet. Cats may need to have their claws trimmed ( NOT REMOVED ) & plenty of opportunities to exercise their claws, otherwise they will scratch your furniture, moldings & walls. You will need different types of scratching surfaces, plenty of toys, a water & food dish, litter box ( or 2 ), & lots of patience. All cats are individuals, so when you go looking to adopt a cat, take your family & give yourself plenty of time to spend with your potential pet, & ask lots of questions about them. Hello, actually the more variety you give her, the more chances you will have to get her to use one or more of the scratching posts. Different substrates, sizes & dimensions are necessary. I have curved, upright & horizontal ones made of carpet, jute & sisal. Keep her nails trimmed ( just take off the sharp point ) or put on glue-on nail caps & your furniture & sanity will be preserved. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! She is gorgeous!! Some cats are just a bit more timid though that tends to get better with time. I would encourage you to speak softly to her and try to avoid sudden movements when interacting with her. I'm looking for recommendations of books to read about cat behavior - there are so many and I'd like an expert's opinion. I want to know what's going on in my cat's head and how to better help her adjust to our family and home.
"Think Like a Cat" by Pam Johnson-Bennett is a great book on cat behavior; this author also has a couple of other books ("Catwise" and "Cat Vs. Cat") which are also great. "The Trainable Cat" by John Bradshaw and Sarah Ellis is another good resource, with lots of specific info on teaching your cat to do things in a positive way. I hope that helps a bit! :)
