My dog Dexter is a rescue and although I don’t know much about his medical history, I’ve noticed he might have some trouble with his skin. A vet on this site (thank you Dr. Elizabeth from the U.S.) recommended I start giving him omega 3 fatty acids.

Hello. Petco carries a number of products that might help. Zymox makes a spray & a salve that contains hydrocortisone, that can really help with the itching. On-line, you can find many more products such as shampoos & conditioners that also contain hydrocortisone. Topicals only work for short periods of time. Longer relief can be obtained with immunostimulants such as Apoquel & Cytopoint, both available from your veterinarian. Your pet may also have additional issues such as skin mites, fleas, bacterial & yeast infections in the skin, & your veterinarian can certainly help to sort some of these issues out. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! There are many omega 3 supplements you can buy online. I prefer the Nordic natural products that you can get from amazon as they are high quality and well-tolerated. It does help with the dandruff and skin issues in general. Good luck!

I want to protect my dog from fleas. What should I do for that? Should I make natural products at home or should I use products like Frontline?
Natural products just don't stand up to pests like fleas and it will leave you very frustrated as a pet owner trying to get rid of them. J would stick with a good quality flea preventative such as Bravecto, Nexgard, Simparica or Comfortis. Frontline has largely grown out of favor because it has been ineffective in a lot of pets. The only over the counter product that may work in my opinion is Advantix or Advantage multi. Best of luck with your flea problems and I hope you get some resolve soon.

Nikki is adorable! Thanks for including pictures! Yes, PetSmile is expensive, but it is one of the only toothpastes to actually be approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council. (Last year they ran a 25% off sale before Christmas, so I stocked up!) Yes, it is fine to use Dawn on Nikki's feet daily, but I suspect any gentle cleaner would be fine as well. You may have to experiment to find the best shampoo for her. I have been very pleased with EarthBath products, so you might want to try their Oatmeal and Aloe shampoo for itch relief. https://earthbath.com/product/oatmeal-aloe-shampoo/ There are also prescription itch relief shampoo and conditioner products if needed that you can talk to your vet about.
