My dog Dexter is a rescue and although I don’t know much about his medical history, I’ve noticed he might have some trouble with his skin. A vet on this site (thank you Dr. Elizabeth from the U.S.) recommended I start giving him omega 3 fatty acids.

Hi, I'm making homemade dog cookies and I just wanted to check and make sure everything I'm using is safe for my dog. Ingredients are: Oatmeal, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, sugar, baking soda, peanut butter, and eggs?
Great question! Oatmeal, sugar (not too much!), baking soda, peanut butter (again not too much!!!), and eggs are fine. According to the Pet Poison Hotline, "Pumpkin spice products are usually flavored with a mix of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. Ingestion of very large amounts of cinnamon can potentially cause vomiting, diarrhea, lowered blood sugar, irritation of the mouth and lungs, and possibly changes in heart rate and issues with the liver. Nutmeg contains a toxin called myristicin, and toxicity can cause symptoms including hallucinations, disorientation, increased heart rate, high blood pressure, dry mouth, abdominal pain, and possibly seizures. Ingestion of large amounts of ginger can cause stomach upset and lethargy." As long as there are not large amounts of either cinnamon or pumpkin spice in the cookies, they should be fine for Princess. Remember these cookies are a treat, and only give her one every couple of days. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Thank you for using Boop by Petco. So sorry that Oscar had this issue. You can put Neosporin on it if you would like. Typically after lancing, anal glands heal up very quickly and easily. The Neosporin will not hurt anything though so it is fine to use. If you do use it, I would get the "plus" version that contains pramoxine which is a topical pain reliever. Warm packing is not necessary, but again, you can sure do that for 5 minutes twice a day for the first few days. It may make him feel a bit better. I don't personally think Glandex works that well. Canned pumpkin is fine to do and for a small dog 1/8 to 1/4 cup once or twice a day is sufficient. Hope this helps! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! There are many omega 3 supplements you can buy online. I prefer the Nordic natural products that you can get from amazon as they are high quality and well-tolerated. It does help with the dandruff and skin issues in general. Good luck!

Nikki is adorable! Thanks for including pictures! Yes, PetSmile is expensive, but it is one of the only toothpastes to actually be approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council. (Last year they ran a 25% off sale before Christmas, so I stocked up!) Yes, it is fine to use Dawn on Nikki's feet daily, but I suspect any gentle cleaner would be fine as well. You may have to experiment to find the best shampoo for her. I have been very pleased with EarthBath products, so you might want to try their Oatmeal and Aloe shampoo for itch relief. https://earthbath.com/product/oatmeal-aloe-shampoo/ There are also prescription itch relief shampoo and conditioner products if needed that you can talk to your vet about.
