Could you recommend a good brand of toys, treats or bones for puppies who are teething?
Get a Kong and stuff it with kibble or treats. Then smear peanut butter (make sure it does not contain any xylitol) over the hole completely. Put it in the freezer for a few hours. The coolness will feel good on M. J’s gums. In general King toys are a favorite for dogs. Rope toys can also massage the gum when he bites into them. If you go to the Pet Store or online you can find toys specifically for teething puppies. They can often be put in the refrigerator. As a sidenote, always check his toys for any pieces that he could tear off and swallow as this could cause an intestinal blockage. Throw away any of those toys and buy him new ones when this occurs. I live in Chicago where it gets really cold in the winter. My puppy is small to medium size. Should I consider in getting her dog booties and coat/ jacket for the winter? Or would she be fine in the winter?
For short walks, a few minutes, she can probably go out as is. If you plan on spending more than 5-10 minutes outside or if Maggie takes a long time to do her business, then you may want to consider booties and a coat. Kong toys that you can fill with peanut butter work great and you can find the kong toys online or at your local pet store. Use an appropriate size sweater or jacket when necessary. Booties can be used to protect feet from ice and snow. You can buy these items online or in most pet stores. Brands available will depend on your geographical location. Paw protection creams should be applied sparingly to the paw pads and between toes as needed. Musher's Secret Paw Protection Wax is one of the better brands.

These hotspots are typically caused by an allergy- sometimes to something they came in contact with or something environmental (either indoor allergy or outdoor). They can be irritating and itchy and do often require treatment with a veterinarian.
