Gabapentin is no longer used for seizures as there are much more effective medications. max needs to be examined by the veterinarian today to be tested for different causes of seizures and then to discuss the best medication. I hope this helps and that Max responds to treatment.

Yes, I would make an appointment to discuss medication options with your vet and to rule out any other underlying or treatable conditions causing the seizures. While the meds may be lifelong, they are better in the long-term than letting your cat have seizures constantly which could lead to accidents, injury, or death. Your vet may also be able to work with you on a cohesive treatment plan in combination with medications that may help reduce seizures.

The phenobarbital level in her blood should be checked to make sure she gets enough of it daily. Other medicine can be tried (Potassium Bromide for example). I sure hope this input will help Stormy. Good luck.

I'm wondering if Portifoy is on aripiprazole or Abilify, and if this is causing adverse signs due to serotonin syndrome. I can't find any information on dosing in cats, but I would imagine that like most antidepressants hyperexcitability might be a symptom. Amitriptyline is another common medication that is used as an antidepressant in situations like this that can cause odd behavior. I'd recommend talking to your vet about whether or not you should continue the medications. While gabapentin can cause sedation I think it would be less likely to cause these symptoms.

Hi there! As long as the CBD oil is labeled for use in cats, I have often used it in both cats and dogs as adjunctive therapy for different ailments. I haven't had any problems prescribing different antibiotics at the same time as the CBD oil. Keep in mind, it may or may not help the seizures, but it definitely can't hurt (as long as it's labeled for use in cats to avoid toxic reactions of any kind). I hope you find this answer helpful! Best of luck! Also, this is the brand we carry: http://sevenleafpets.com/
