Glad to hear you decided to get yourself a kitty! Some cats take longer to get used to their owners than others. It is great that she gets along with dogs, as so many cats and dogs are not able to functionally coexist. The best think you can do is just give Crystal some time and let her come to you. Any time she comes to you, take it very slowly and offer her love and treats. Cats respond similarly to positive reinforcement as dogs, but has to be done with a little more finesse. In terms of the food, any type of food labeled for cats is OK, with some brands being of higher quality than others. By six months of age, you should be able to feed regular adult cat food instead of kitten food. If you are thinking of letting your cat outside, I would make sure that she is fully vaccinated against FeLV in addition to the FVRCP combo and Rabies. Obviously allowing cats to go outside puts the at a greater risk for illness and injury. Depending on the cat, sometimes they simply don't fu

You can post a picture in this forum or on your kitten's profile. Some breeds may be considered"lazier" than others. Long-haired breeds have different grooming requirements than shorthairs while care must be taken with hairless breeds. Each cat will have it's own personality though.

Yes, cats love to curl up on people or touching them especially when it’s cold. My male cat is very vocal and he talks when he wants something so that is probably what going on with yours. If you open the window when she talks she may have learned to meow when she wants more air. Sounds like a smart cat to me! Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for your cat.

I’m so sorry to hear about Mr. Bojangles! Cats do “nibble” as part of their affection sometimes (my cat does this too). But it should never break skin and should be soft. However, the attacking your fiancé is unacceptable. It could be related to stress or anxiety. Is your baby new by chance? Is your fiancé around more? Has anything in your routine or household changed? If so, anxiety may be to blame. Try the following which are all shown to reduce anxiety in cats. If these do not help, talk to your vet about prescription behavior modification medications that can help. -Feliway- calming cat pheromone- comes in many forms from pet stores or online. - Adding a litter box. Studies show that the ideal number of litter boxes for a home is #of cats +1 . This is regardless of how clean you keep his current litter box. - making sure he has plenty of “high space”. The safest (and therefore least anxiety-inducing) place for a cat is up. If you don’t already, get a cat tree or put up a sh

Cats can be odd balls when it comes to being petted, displaying affection and expressing themselves. I’m sure you’ve seen cartoons that portray cats only allowing a certain number of pets on the back or only certain parts of the body being touched. This is not abnormal behavior and it does not indicate that he doesn’t like you. It’s possible Cookie is playing rough with you and this is a game in his mind. It’s also possible he’s irritated and taking it out on you! Look at the ears and the tail. A flicking tail alone often means irritation. Ears laid back can mean getting ready to pounce! Pick up a book about cats and familiarize your self with cat body language so that you can pick up on his signals. I hope this helps to point you in the right direction! Please feel free to post any additional questions.
