Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Fluticasone is a steroid so it only relieves the desire to scratch. Mupirocin is an antibiotic. Mange is due to a mite. The above ointment may make the skin feel better but it will not kill the mites. I hope this helps!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Sweetie. I am glad that she will see her veterinarian for an examination. X-rays are typically of the chest as well. Based on these results, a diagnosis of asthma can be made in most cases. You are correct that inhalers can be used to manage this condition. A steroid inhaler such as fluticasone works well for daily use. This works very well with minimal systemic side effects. However, this medication tends to be very expensive. Albuterol is another medication that can be used in the inhaler. It is not a steroid. This is better for rescue situations such as during an attack. I hope this information helps!

Flixotide (fluticasone) and Ventolin (albuterol) are different drugs with different doses in dogs. It is not recommended to switch or medicate your dog with a different drug without first contacting your veterinarian. Ideally, if you can refill the original prescription, that should be the first option. If your veterinarian is unavailable or if there are no more refills on the prescription, then you'll likely need to have Maisy rechecked before a new prescription or different medication is dispensed. Legally, we are prohibited from recommending doses or different medication in the absence of a physical exam and a patient-veterinarian-client relationship.

If the depo medrol works, then this is likely feline asthma. Unfortunately the treatment for that is generally a gluco-corticoid, but usually as an inhaler (with fluticasone) and a broncho-dilating medication to open the airways and facilitate breathing.. There have been various treatments with other anti-asthma medications such as zaphirlucast and montelucast, however they are not licensed for cats. Here is some really good relevant information: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/FHC/health_information/Asthma.cfm

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. I'm sorry to hear that your cat is suffering from asthma. Generally, oral steroids such as prednisolone are used in the treatment of asthma. However, there are also inhaled steroids, such as fluticasone, that can be used to treat asthma. These are administered via an inhaler for cats, such as an AeroKat, which can be purchased online from something like amazon.com. I recommend asking if your veterinarian can prescribe a fluticasone inhaler for your cat. This helps deliver steroids directly to the lungs, and reduces the risk of the side effects we see with systemic (oral) steroids. Fluticasone inhalers can be very expensive in the US, but may be available for purchase from an international pharmacy like a Canadian pharmacy, with a prescription from your veterinarian. I hope this is helpful, and best of luck!
