My cat has recently developed lot of flees on his fur. I have been hearing some very good reviews about himalaya erina shampoo for cats which is quite popular here in India. Will using the shampoo be safe for my cat?
If the infestation is massive I would recommend to use a prescription products against fleas (which is generally speaking 100% effective) Spot ons like Bravecto spot on (ticks as well) or tablets like Comfortis are good products. A good house spray would be Indoorex. The safest flea shampoo for a cat is actually Dawn dish soap or baby shampoo. It is very mild and gentle and does well for killing fleas. After a bath you can try frontline or advantage topical if old enough as those do no require prescriptions

See now I'm confused ok if I give my cats a capstar pill to kill adult fleas and I use Adams flea shampoo that's says it's suppose to kill flea eggs and flea larva them two products alone will not get rid of the fleas?
Hello! Yes, using those products will kill the adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larva. However, in order to prevent Oatmeal from getting fleas on her again, I would use a monthly flea preventative Rx by your veterinarian. If she is an outdoor cat then she can easily acquire fleas if she is not on a preventative, monthly. Even if she is indoors, fleas can come inside your home and hide in cracks and crevices. The pupal stage of the flea can actually live dormant for months and be a source of potential re-infestation for Oatmeal if she is not on any monthly preventative. Lastly, please be sure the products you are using are safe for cats. Products with Pyrethrins in them are potentially toxic to cats and should be avoided.

In order to get rid of fleas, you will need a strong treatment program. Flea shampoos do not provide lasting protecting, nor are they very good. I will give you the flea treatment program I always recommend. First, I would give him Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home.
