Ketoconazole is a great antifungal and usually works very well. The type of medication chosen depends on what condition is being treated. Ketoconazole is also less expensive than the other antifungals. If you are concerned about the choice of medication I would encourage you to discuss it with your veterinarian. If you can give us more information on what is going on with your cat we may be able to better recommend alternative treatments.

Hello, it's likely that Max has chin acne, Dermalone ointment should work to treat this. It's also recommended to use antibacterial cleansing pads on the skin (made for veterinary use). You will need to use the pads and ointment at least once daily for 7-14 days to see an improvement.

Miconazole and clotrimazole are the most common topical anti-fungal medications that we use for ringworm, but you will want to consult with your veterinarian before starting any treatment for ringworm to make sure that Pita Boo is confirmed to have ringworm, to make sure that he doesn't need oral medication as well and to make sure that the topical product is safe for cats. I am including a handout on ringworm below for your reference which discusses treatment. https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951439 Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

You may need to do antifungal baths more frequently, as in 2-3 times a week. Lime sulfur dips would also help rid the fungus. There are other oral antifungal medications that may work better, such as ketoconazole. I would discuss these options with Mel's vet. BTW, she is BEAUTIFUL!

If you don't want to apply a topical then an oral flea pill is better. Flea shampoos only work for the moment they are on the cat and they will sting her if she has open sores. Also, there is no residual flea repellant effect. I suggest you: 1. get an oral flea pill (Comfortis) 2. bathe with a soothing mousse like the one I linked below (mousse is easier to use than bathing with shampoo) 3. treat your house for fleas using the product linked below ( https://www.allivet.com/p-2573-comfortis-chewable-tablets-for-dogs-and-cats.aspx ) ( https://www.allivet.com/p-1389-knockout-es-area-treatment.aspx ) ( https://www.allivet.com/p-6679-douxo-calm-mousse-for-dogs-and-cats-68-oz.aspx ) You will probably need a prescription for the Comfortis. You can get one from one of our VETCO vaccination clinics inside Petco stores. You will need to take the cat with you. Here is a link to a schedule of clinics in your area: ( https://www.vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/clinic-locations-and
