If there is a secondary bacterial infection, I would recommend using product called Duoxo Chlorhexidine + Calm shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved. I would also recommend picking up a hydrocortisone spray (Well and Good at Petco) and apply daily to the affected area to relieve inflammation. If it does not resolve or worsens, I would have a veterinarian take a look at Harley so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps!

Unfortunately, there are no veterinary clinics located in Petco stores in your area - yet. You can get vaccinations done at Vetco vaccination clinics, as well as heartworm and flea and tick prevention. Be sure you get Tars in before he is 6 months of age, and he won't need a heartworm test. He should also be dewormed against intestinal parasites. Vetco vaccine clinics don't charge an exam fee, but they will charge you for the vaccinations - here is a link to a map of Petco's in your area with Vetco clinics: chttps://www.vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/clinic-locations-and-schedules/?zip=60606#maptop . Also, their prices for services are here: https://www.vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/vaccination-packages-and-prices/ . Finally, you can get nail trimming and anal gland expression done at the grooming salon in your Petco, and most of them even offer training. So pick the one that is most convenient for you!

If you have a tick problem I recommend Heartgard for heartworm prevention and bravecto for fleas and ticks. That is the most economical combination of oral medications at the PetCo clinics. Trifexis doesn’t do ticks so you would need another product as well. I prefer not to use a collar or topical for flea and tick prevention, especially if you have children around. Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for Chester.
