Hello. Petco carries a number of products that might help. Zymox makes a spray & a salve that contains hydrocortisone, that can really help with the itching. On-line, you can find many more products such as shampoos & conditioners that also contain hydrocortisone. Topicals only work for short periods of time. Longer relief can be obtained with immunostimulants such as Apoquel & Cytopoint, both available from your veterinarian. Your pet may also have additional issues such as skin mites, fleas, bacterial & yeast infections in the skin, & your veterinarian can certainly help to sort some of these issues out. I have adopted a puppy mill dog who is not responding to being ina home that loves her so much. She is so skiddish and overly garded. can you recommend a calming medicine I can get at Petco.
You can try HomeoPet for anxiety. They sell it at PetCo. For my terrified puppy mill dog I used the supplement Solliquin. Another product people recommend is rescue remedy. A pheromone diffuser can help as well. My dog took several years to relax in our home. I recommend having places for Brandy to hide and get away when she wants. Letting her come to you and not forcing the situation is best. Have treats and toys available to get her interested in being with you. My boy was much worse when picked up or restrained. He does better when he can get on the couch and sit with me as long as I don’t physically hold him or pick him up. The best thing for him was taking him to obedience class. He loved being with other dogs and learned quickly. He became more confident and relaxed from the classes. My 9 months old golden retriever is due for tick and fleas meds control , can I just buy it at any Petco store
You can buy those products at Petco for Beaux. I would advise to only purchase Frontline or Advantix. I would not get anything cheaper than that. Be aware that these are still your best over the counter products but fleas are developing immunity to them. In general, the oral products like Simparica and Bravecto are the best. What can I buy for my dog for flea dermatitis
If there is a secondary bacterial infection, I would recommend using product called Duoxo Chlorhexidine + Calm shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved. I would also recommend picking up a hydrocortisone spray (Well and Good at Petco) and apply daily to the affected area to relieve inflammation. If it does not resolve or worsens, I would have a veterinarian take a look at Harley so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps!

We get got a Shelton collie and she is 4 years old. She is very shy and doesn’t want to come out of her crate. Would it be a good idea to get some calming meds to give her to help her adjust to her new environment
It probably wouldn’t hurt to try a calming supplement like Composure, Zylkene or Solliquin. Adaptil is a pheromone available in collars and sprays that can help as well. If Jessie seems extremely fearful you may want to talk to your vet about trying some other sedatives while you are also working on behavior training.
