Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! You can give the probiotic while you are giving the clindamycin. The dose of clindamycin for dental abscesses is: 5.5-33mg/kg by mouth every 12 hours. He is receiving 25mg/kg, I hope this helps!

I personally would use clavamox long term if it’s effective. Yes, there are less side effects. Then you can keep the clindamycin to use at some point in the future, if needed. Clavamox now comes in flavored chewable pills which seem to be very palatable. Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for Callie.

Hello there and thank you for your post! Packy dermatitis is typically associated with malassezia. This is typically a fungal infection for which clindamycin will not treat. Clindamycin is generally great for bone and dental infections. We typically use clindamycin to treat what we call anaerobic infections due to bacteria not fungus. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. I am also available via consultation if needed

Hello, yes that dose of clindamycin is adequate for a 35lb dog. Consult with your veterinaria about a prescription for this medication to treat Jasper's dental infection. Sometimes, different antibiotics or a longer course of this antibiotic may be necessary for severe dental infections. Hope this helps and best of luck.
