There is a dose range for clindamycin. We will be able to best help you if you know your cats current weight and can provide that inforrmation, if you know the concentration of the drug (mg/ml, should be on the package), and if you know how many ml you were instructed to give (should be on your syringe and the label on the bottle). If you are able to re post your question with that information we can let you know if the dose is in the dose range. But, as different diseases may be treated with a different dose, it will always be safer to verify with your vet as he or she prescribed the medication. I hope this helps and thank you for using Boop by Petco!

There is a wide dosage range for this medication based on the condition that is being treated. The amount your vet prescribed is at the higher end of the dosage range, but still in a safe range that is commonly used in kittens.

I would advise having a fungal culture done. Ringworm doesn’t always fluoresce with the black light. It may require a culture to rule it out. It could also be a bacterial infection. If the skin issue started after the Clindamycin was introduced, there is a possibility that it’s use in the way that you are administering it may cause a serious skin problem. The injectable Clindamycin should only be administered intravenously or in the muscle. SQ administration can cause toxic epidermal necrolysis. I would strongly recommend that you see a veterinarian ASAP with this little kitten. Perhaps a full service vet instead of the shelter vet as they will be able to do the fungal culture, etc. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

Hi and thanks for you question. Clindamycin (to my knowledge) should not cause hair to peel off, however, if it sat on her fur for any length of time, it may have caused local irritation. Unless you contact the veterinarian who Rx the liquid form or contacted the product manufacturer, I am unable to tell you exactly what is in the medication that could have been an irritant to her hair. You may want to contact the veterinarian who Rx the product to Misha. I'm glad to hear her skin appears unaffected, however.

I am so sorry that your pet is so ill. If he is sick from an abscess then it has likely spread to his bloodstream and really needs to be lanced. Clindamycin is usually given for 7-10 days on average. I would highly recommend this resource to use for financial assistance to best help Temi. http://m.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_veterinary_care.html He neds to have this abscess drained or he is likely to continue to be sick, even with the antibiotics on board. I wish you all the best and hope that Temi has a full and speedy recovery. Take care.
