If it is cold for you, it is probably cold for her. Just make sure she has a way to get out of the cold by going into the garage or a warm spot outside. You could set up an insulated cat bed by cutting a hole in an ice chest (use google for other diy winter cat beds). You can also play with her throughout the day. Use various toys like a laser pointer, toys on a stick, feather toys, bell toys, etc. Playing in the snow is also a type of stimulation she may enjoy.

In my experience, a cat who wants to escape from something like a harness will eventually find a way. I do think that this type tends to work a little better: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/petsafe-gentle-leader-come-with-me-kitty-harness-and-bungee-leash-in-blue I also think training is very important: put the harness on for very short periods of time while offering food or a treat and gradually work your way up to longer time. If he starts to get upset with the harness training is over and you should take it off. All harness time should be fun! Once he seems comfortable you can then try adding a lead.

Hi, in terms of cat furniture don’t worry cats don’t need anything particularly fancy. They enjoy sitting on a shelf as in the picture and look outside the window. You would add some cardboard boxes that can also work as cratching posts and a couple of pillow on the bookshelf. I think the feeding area would better be moved, because being right in front of the windows is exposed, they can see/be seen and could spot something that might upset them. It is also advisable to keep feeding areas away from their litter tray and perhaps moving it would help increasing this distance. Are there only two cats in the room ? If so also consider the number of litter trays. I mo not sure how many you have at present, and if things work out well I probably would suggest not to change them. You can find lots of ideas in building/creating cat furniture from ikea furniture if you fancy a change in the future. I live in Chicago where it gets really cold in the winter. My puppy is small to medium size. Should I consider in getting her dog booties and coat/ jacket for the winter? Or would she be fine in the winter?
For short walks, a few minutes, she can probably go out as is. If you plan on spending more than 5-10 minutes outside or if Maggie takes a long time to do her business, then you may want to consider booties and a coat.
