While Halloween may be fun for us, it can be stressful for pets. Before the trick-or-treaters start ringing the doorbell, be sure that your pet is safely confined in a crate or room so that they don’t escape amidst the chaos. Keep any candy or treats out of reach of pets. Chocolate is toxic to pets, and many other treats or candies can lead to gastrointestinal upset or pancreatitis. If your pet becomes excessively anxious when the doorbell rings repeatedly, discuss solutions with your veterinarian.

Chewing on toys is a great activity for dogs to help them burn off energy, keep them occupied, and help keep them from chewing on other things in the house that are inappropriate for them to chew on. Dogs have individual preferences for the types of toys they chew on, so it may take a bit of experimenting to find out what Abby likes. Rope toys, soft toys and rubber chew toys are all good options. There are even puzzle toys where you can hide food and that will keep your pup busy trying to get the food out. Avoid any toys that are too hard- you should be able to easily dent the surface with a fingernail, as anything harder than that could lead to fracturing of the teeth. Avoid offering bones, antler, and similar objects for this reason. Always supervise play, and if you notice your dog trying to eat any pieces of the toys, take them away, as the pieces could cause a blockage of the intestines that could lead to the need for surgery to remove it.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is very dependent on the dogs in terms of how much they enjoy playing with toys. Some dogs just do not enjoy that and will not play with them as much. You can try to get other toys to see if Ginger becomes interested but ultimately she may decide to not use them and that is not necessarily an issue. Have a good night!

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your question. There are many other better options out there for chew treats / toys. I've seen several intestinal obstructions occur with rawhide chews, so the risk is there. I would recommend something such as a bully stick, kong toy filled with peanut butter, etc. as a safer option. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! It is important to introduce new things in your dog's environment slowly and provide plenty of positive reinforcement during the process in the form of praise and treats. The idea is to demonstrate that the object or event is positive and not harmful.
