My Indian ringneck is being fluffy and inactive and today not eating much! Is it lethargy? What should i do?_ There are no expert avian vet here:(
3 days back female budgie woke up chirpy but became quiet for rest of the day, sleeping more often. She had a lot of fresh corn the previous day. Poop looked weird. Twice she vomitted (millet came out from her throat). Gave her Avian-M that vet had prescribed some months back. She was normal next day and now. But was wondering what went wrong. Her poop is normal now and shes again active. Giving her Avian-M this week and not giving any fresh veggies, fruits etc. for atleast 10 days.
I got a new baby coctail bird. He is untamed. He is sneezing multiple times in a strange way. His mouth is always open. I don't have an avian vet nearby. Is he ok?
Hi My bird looks sick but she is also old. I have an appointment with the avian vet for next week. Is there a chance that she will survive given that she is old and looks very sick.?
My Cockatiel just layed eggs (Not Fertile) and she's shivering and un-energetic. she occasionally twitches as well. i put boiled egg in her food if she's low on calcium, but she hasn't eaten in 3 and a half hours. She's in a warm room with towels on her cage and a humidifier. Please help. (There Aren't many Avian Vets around me)
I had got a budgie 2 months back. The pet shop owner told me its a female. But the vet (general vet. no avian vets in my locality) did not confirm. Can you please tell if this is a male or female? and also its age? Was told its 7/8 months old.
I desperately need someone with avian expertise. My husband insists over the counter superglue is not a health risk to my African Grey to stop bleeding on occasion when she bleeds from his trimming her claws. Says it's used in surgery. Assume surgical glue is non toxic....Please weigh in. I love my Bird !!!
My bird Luna has what looks like a white crust in her nose, her nose also whistles when she breathes and you can hear a slight wheezing too. She sneezes a lot after excersise and I don’t know what to do. I have absolutely no avian vets where I live and nobody to come look at her, is there anything I can do to help her out of this situation?
Hi, I was wondering whether there is any natural remedy for my budgie's cere? I'm afraid that they are mites, however I do not see them active at night. It's hard for me to find an avian vet in my country.. I hope its not a very serious issue. He still jumps around and quite actively chirping. I've heard that putting coconut oil or vaseline will help, but is it really safe? Please help, thanks!
My cockatiels have most probably contracted feather mites / lice.Talking to the vet didn't help much because the powder he suggested, was mostly being used for dogs and cats, almost everywhere, when I looked it up online. It was also written exclusively that it must be used for dogs. So naturally I'm a bit apprehensive about using it for my birds. In my city, there are almost no avian vets. I looked up UltraCare mite lice spray for birds online, but they don't ship it to my country.
We have had a dusky lory pass following a 5 day stint in an avian hospital - he was said to be doing very well during this time. He had a clostridium infection, and was put onto Clavulox, but this did not occur for around 9 hours. He responded well to the medication, and perked up, but the post-mortem suggests that he eventually succumbed to liver failure - multiple necrotic lesions in the liver in the post mortem. Could this organism have done damage to the liver in this short period?
I have a female cockatiel which has a lump behind her wing on the side of her abdomen. We are not sure if it is an abcess, a hernia, or a tumor. there are no avian vets in Wyoming or we would take her to one. Is this likely to be life threatening, or possibly a fatty tumor? She seems to be eating normally, and is in the same cage with 2 budgie parakeets which don't seem to be pecking at her or any other abnormal behavior.
