I have 2 older (10-15 yrs) cats, that I free feed dry food. They will NOT eat wet food, they just lick it. I know wet food is best for them, but how do I get them to eat it

My senior cat (14) stopped eating his regular dry cat food. I did try a couple new different kinds but he just wanted wet food. Now he seems to bore of that quickly so I have switching up brands. Is there a certain brand/flavor you recomend? I went from Friskies to Iams. Now he is eating Fancy Feast. I just don't know what's best to do.

My vet is having tony try to transition to a kidney diet but whether it’s his kidney food or his senior diet he tends to lick the pate rather than pick it up in chunks and once he’s licked too much of it he no longer wants it and I have to start a fresh bowl..and we repeat the process.
