My 12 year old female cat recently had a bladder infection that was difficult to treat. We ended up having to get the specific strain of bacteria tested and identified before we could get her on a targeted source of antibiotics (the third one we tried) that finally cleared the infection. Prior to this, we had been using clay or corn clumping litter that appeared to work well. However, we learned from our vet that those types of litter can hold and propagate bacteria that leads to bladder infections, to which female cats are susceptible. This litter has been the answer to the problem. Yes, there are some downsides, particularly if you were used to clumping litter. It does track around a little bit, and gets a little gross once it is soaked with urine, which takes around a month for our one cat to do. However, it works well for keeping our cat healthy, and has the added benefit of the color-changing warning system for bladder problems. It's a nice reassurance that your cat is healthy! While the litter itself might be a bit more expensive, it's less expensive than vet bills! If your cat ever has bladder issues, I highly recommend.
