We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN: Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.

Solves tummy issues

Paigealert

This food has worked wonders on my dog with a sensitive tummy. We have been trying to find a food that works for 4 years. When I saw petco came out with a lamb and oat, I decided to try a bag. It only took a week to get him to solid stools, and it has kept him from having monthly bouts of tummy issues. He is intolerant of salmon based foods, so he didnt do well on that formula. Glad I came back around and found this food.

Yes, I recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our 2 year old pyr mix is allergic to chicken and she had a really bad reaction when she was a puppy. She’s been on this food since she was six months old and absolutely loves it. We transitioned to adult formula when she turned two. The vet always compliments her and says she is the perfect weight. She has no intestinal issues. Her skin is perfect. Her coat is beautiful.

Is it normal for this food to be very crumbly? When I opened the bag all the kibble is coated in crumbs, not sure if this is just the way this formula is.

  1. No. I've never had this issue. I only see fine crumbs when I reach the bottom of the bag which is typical with any dry food. I would return it to Petco for a replacement.

I currently feed my 16 pound goldendoodle Purina Pro Plan Focus Sensitive Skin & Stomach Salmon & Rice Formula Adult Dry Dog Food. He itches and bites/chews on his paws a lot. I am wondering if switching to this would be a good alternative to try.

  1. My GSD did the same but it was all over he couldn't be still. I switched to the lamb and oatmeal , he is just fine !

How many calories per cup of pro plan lamb and oatmeal

  1. Great question! This recipe contains 498 calories per cup. - The Pro Plan Team

Does this food help with tear stains in small breed dogs?

  1. Our dog had weepy eyes until we changed to this dog food. When we changed, we did it gradually over a week’s time. We were surprised that all that junk accumulating from here eyes just stopped. Cleared up completely. Love this food! (She is not a small breed, though. She is a Portuguese Water Dog.)

I have a dog that is a black lab with skin issues would this help and stop the itching?

  1. This recipes is rich in omega-6 fatty acids to support healthy skin and coat. If you decide to make the switch to Pro Plan recipes please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog’s current food. Each day, feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. - The Pro Plan Team
