This is not a consumable product but small shavings (no larger than a grain of rice) should pass through. However, a dog should not be able to break off large pieces of any Nylabone non-edible chew. No dog toy is totally indestructible. Frequently inspect your Nylabone before giving it to your dog to make sure it's whole and intact, with no missing pieces. Durable overall, but our Frenchie has chewed off a few of the spikes. Luckily they are small enough to pass through if she eats them. It’s bigger than I expected; the shih-tzu has trouble carrying, but I smeared some dog toothpaste on it, and they both love it!

My dog also destroyed this one in about 2 minutes. He is a beagle/basset, I was surprised. Other Nylabones have been fine. Bummer.

Way softer than most Nylabone products. I have to take it away from my 65lb lab mix after about 30 seconds just so he can enjoy it again tomorrow. At this pace, it'll last about a week. so 210 total seconds of enjoyment.

Chewed to little tiny bits

My Brittany chews this thing to little tiny bits within just a few days. This is not the best chew toy for aggressive chewers.
