Thank you for your interest in our Drymate Personalized Pet Feeding Mat. I am unaware as to what step this is a requirement for the purchase of a personalized mat. I know that you are able to add to cart and continue to checkout with out it being entered. I do know that there is a prompt during the check out process in which it captures personal information, and it might be something that PETCO requires for purchase.
