Hello, The Doggie Dooley works on a continual basis. From what you have described is happening I assume you have one of our pyramid model 3800 or 3500. The drainage should slow down on its own once you get a layer of stools on the bottom. This unit does not hold standing water. It is normal for the unit to accumulate dog stools and fill to no more than half full; then it maintains itself near that level (similar to composting you need to have a small mass of "stuff"). You want to be adding 5 gallons of water at least two to three times a week. If the soil is draining out very quickly in dry hot weather, you may need to add water daily. The system does not need to hold standing water; however, you should add enough water to keep the contents moist. The contents should never be drying out. No Doggie Dooley will work in clay soil, you need to have good drainage soil in order for the system to work. On the day that you add the powder/tablet, pour in the water first and then put in WT powder or tablets this will keep powder/tablet from washing right away. You do not want add more waste terminator than recommended; this will not speed up the rate of digestion. It will actually do more harm than good! I hope that you find this information helpful. Hello, If you have the model 3000 daily maintenance: Add a gallon (4 liters) of fresh water each time you add waste. Adding water is very important to keeping the unit working properly. Water should overflow down the overflow tube each time it is added. The model 3500 or 3800 daily maintenance: Fill unit to the top with water two times a week. For very quick draining soil, add water daily as needed in order to keep the contents moist. On the day that you add the digester tablet, add the tablet to a bucket of warm water and pour over the stools. Do not add more powder or tablets than recommended; this will not speed up the rate of digestion. Hello, The tablets and the powder have the same active ingredients. You only need add (1) tablespoon of the powder per week per dog (or 1 tablet). On the day that you add the digester powder, pour in the water first and then sprinkle the powder on top. That way, when the water drains the powder will settle on top of the stools rather than being washed right away. Do not add more powder or tablets than recommended; this will not speed up the rate of digestion. It will actually do more harm than good! The Doggie Dooley units are geared towards residential use. The model #3000 and the model #3800 are the largest units, handling the waste of up to 2 large or 4 small dogs. To accommodate more dogs, you would need to install multiple units and distribute the waste among them. Unfortunately we do not have a system designed for the large scale use that you would require.
