We've been buying this dog food for years. Our Italian greyhound and Maltese love the Organix Canned food with real poultry bones. Now that they are almost 15 years old, with many missing teeth, wet food is more important than ever for their good health. It seems that Castor and Pollux has stopped making our "furbabies" main means of substance.

My dogs loved it and had no issues with it. It did not trigger any allergies in my Yorkies. Subtracted one star for cans being little rusty on the outside.

Our dog has a permanent prescription to ID dog food (2 different brands). He would still get very sick every 2-3 months! We have also tried several brands sensitive stomach and limited ingredient food. Our dog got still got sick every 2-3 months on those as well. We went through this craziness for over 3 years. After feeding him Butcher and Bushel for the past year, he hasn't gotten sick once! This dog food has saved us high vet bills and has given him back his life!

The case came in with all cans free of dents, whereas other places I have purchased these from had some cans dented. My pomeranian prefers to eat chunky food and I'm glad he's able to enjoy it being organic and grain free!

Why are there chicken bones in the canned food?

    Thank you for reaching out. The health and safety of your pet is our No. 1 priority, and we want to assure you that the chicken bones you found in the can are there on purpose. We have two Castor & Pollux products that do contain the whole chicken bones: our Organix Butcher and Bushel Chicken Wing & Thigh Dinner and our Ultramix Grain Free Whole Chicken Thigh. Fresh Cut Carrots and Sweet Potato Entree. You may have noticed there is a note on our can that states the purpose of the chicken bones: “Our slow cooked, whole chicken thighs/wings are marinated tender chicken cooked on a softened bone. This special cooking process makes the bone soft and safe for your dog to enjoy. Feel free to serve whole, remove, or break apart the soft chicken bones for ease of pet consumption.” The food is pressure cooked inside the can and this process is what softens the bones so that they fall apart easily when mashed with a fork or with your fingers.
